PROJECTED MAXIMUM SPEED
Length – 12.2 m (40 ft)
Width – 2.88 m (9.45 ft)
Height over hull – 1.72 m (5.64 ft)
Height over fins – 2.71 m (8.89 ft)
7000 kg (15432 lb)
STATIC WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION
65% forward / 35% aft (approx.)
SHORTEST DISTANCE TO OBTAIN MAXIMUM SPEED
2.7 statute miles
SHORTEST DECELERATION DISTANCE
1.9 statute miles
1 statute mile
MINIMUM TOTAL DISTANCE REQUIRED
5.6 statute mile (plus runoff distance)
ThrustWSH accelerates away quickly as the jet engine increases thrust, but meets increasing resistance from the water until it lifts itself clear of the surface and rides on the planing shoes, accelerating away again.
As the speed increases, so does the distance travelled. At maximun speed, ThrustWSH has covered almost 3 miles as it approaches the “measured mile” over which it will be timed. It will then need another 2 miles to slow down, before turning round and doing it all over again for a two way record.
