The quarter scale C3.2B test boat is a critical part of the test program since it will collect real time data from a number of runs at varying speeds and in varying operational conditions. While the Mammoth jet that powered the 1:7th scale C3.1 test boat was very much at the top end of the large scale model aircraft range – we needed something more. Netherlands based AMT Jets had just the thing we needed in the form of their Lynx jet. Used for a whole range of applications such as large UAV high speed target drones, experimental aircraft and even powered gliders, it offers 350lbs of thrust and best possible power to weight ratio. It is a serious power plant for a serious application. Just like its big brother Spey, it was taken to Cotswold Airport for testing and familiarisation.
